Rev. Ronnie P. Floyd

Pastor

Fr. Ronnie P. Floyd, STL was appointed Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish on July 1, 2022. Prior to being appointed Pastor, Fr. Ron was a priest of the Diocese of Fall River on loan to the Diocese of Grand Rapids where he served as Pastoral Administrator, following a year as Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Parish in Grand Rapids. Fr. Ron grew up in the Boston area attending Malden Catholic High School. Interested in law and public policy from a young age he attended The Catholic University of America as a Pre-Law student. Having worked on several political initiatives and campaigns, his first when he was only 15 years old, he was hired for his dream job during his last year in college working on the staff of the United States Senate. Convinced that God might be calling him to the priesthood, he left Washington in 2003 to spend a year of discernment at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. After a joy-filled first year in seminary, he was sent to continue his studies at the Pontifical North American College in Rome in 2004. He was awarded an STB in 2007 and an STL in Systematic Theology in 2009. Fr. Floyd was ordained a Deacon by His Eminence John Cardinal Foley in St. Peter’s Basilica in the fall of 2007 and a priest by His Excellency George Coleman in 2008. He served in several parishes in the Diocese of Fall River and most recently as Chaplain of St. John Paul II High School from 2013 until 2019. In October of 2019, Fr. Floyd was given permission to pursue an opportunity as Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Church in the Diocese of Grand Rapids.
