Delano Perera

Athletic Director

Mr. Perera was born in Sri Lanka, and he and his family moved to Los Angeles, CA when he was 4 years old. He lived in Los Angeles until he moved to Grand Rapids in 2018. His family raised him in the Faith, and he has been volunteering or working for the Church since he was in the 2nd Grade!

Mr. Perera attended a Salesian high school, and went on to receive a Bachelor of the Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University in both Theology and Philosophy, which included a study-abroad semester at Loyola Chicago’s Rome campus. Prior to full-time teaching at Sacred Heart Academy, Mr. Perera served as a FOCUS Missionary at Grand Valley State University from 2018-2020. He then worked as the Student Life Coordinator at Harmel Academy from 2021-2022, and was a substitute teacher at Sacred Heart for the latter half of the 22/23 school year. Mr. Perera spends his spare time cooking, playing sports, and traveling. He has enjoyed getting to explore cities around Michigan over the last few years, and is always looking for recommendations on where to check out next. His favorite Saint is St. John Bosco, and he has always loved learning about his life, particularly his authentic love and care for the youth, which he hopes to imitate as a teacher.
