Parents are the first educators.
At Sacred Heart Academy we recognize that our school is an apostolate of the parish designed to serve families in the high and sacred calling of forming and educating their children. We are at the service of the family, and as such, see ourselves as extensions of the home. For that purpose, we see it as our duty not only to help form the hearts and minds of children, but to help parents grow in their own abilities to love and serve their children.
Partners in Formation
The Partners in Formation program is a means for parents, as the primary educators of their children, to deepen their understanding of the academy’s philosophy and practice of providing integral Christian formation and enculturation into the Western intellectual tradition. We offer these opportunities for parents themselves to grow in their understanding of classical education and grow in their Catholic Faith.
Parent Teacher Committee (PTC)
The purpose of the Sacred Heart Academy Parent/Teacher Committee is to joyfully and intentionally enliven the school culture via activities that reach the hearts and minds of students and supplement the academic learning in the Academy. Its ultimate goal is to help students, parents and teachers experience love and to build friendships in a spirit of joy and service. To accomplish this task, the PTC actively fosters strong relationships between parents and between parents and the faculty of the Academy.
Because we know that every family is different, and that certain times of life afford greater or lesser opportunities for volunteerism, and because we value the spirit of charity and generosity that moves parents to be active in the life of our Academy, we require no set number of volunteer hours. Instead, we hope to foster a spirit of community and mutual self-giving that encourages our parish priests, administrators, faculty, and families to work together to facilitate this great and noble work.
All parents, both full-time and CEC, are automatically part of the PTC. The PTC organizes a monthly lunch for students, welcomes new families to Sacred Heart, sponsors a Fall Social, and provides Room Coordinators to communicate important information with fellow parents in their student’s classroom.
